Before You Arrive

Everything you need to know before you arrive.

We believe the best holidays start before you get there. Clear information, no surprises, and a welcome that sets the tone. Most holiday cottages give you a check-in time and a postcode. We think you deserve a bit more than that. Here's exactly how it works — from booking to the moment you walk through the door.

Dog Friendly

Your dog is part of the holiday — not an afterthought.

We know how it feels to scan a listing for the words “dog friendly” and then read the small print. Extra charges. No dogs on furniture. No dogs in bedrooms. Must be kept on lead at all times. By the end, “dog friendly” feels more like “dog tolerated.”

Here, one well-behaved dog is genuinely welcome. There's a private enclosed paddock where they can run off-lead. Dog-friendly walks start from the front door. We leave a bowl, towel, and a treat for them too.

Dogs are part of your family. We get it.

Please let us know you're bringing a dog when you book. A small additional charge applies (see holidaycottages.co.uk for details).

Walking & Exploring

Walking routes from someone who's done them all.

Annie appeared on BBC2's Take a Hike — her episode covered the coastal path from Thornwick Bay to Flamborough Head. She's walked every trail within 30 miles of Brandsby and put together a set of route recommendations that come with the cottage.

Whether you want a gentle hour through the village or a full day across the Howardian Hills, you'll have routes that have been tested, not just Googled.
